Five Ways to Stamp Your Look in 2021

8 January, 2021

Flood your wardrobe with prints this year, from the classics to the most modern. Give your outfits a modern, artsy or wild touch, whichever suits your style best. Discover the five prints you’ll be falling for in 2021.

  • Soften up With Paisley
  • This bohemian-style print with a curved tear shape has been making its mark on catwalks and is now being embraced by many designers. We’ve seen it in shows by Etro and Fendi as much of fashion has fallen for paisley in 2021.

    Styling tips:

Do you go all in on trends? Then this one’s for you. Dare to go bold with a paisley total look. Bring in two pieces with the same colour or try mixing different colours. However you blend it, paisley is set to be big for you in 2021.

    Go Wild with Animal Prints

Leopard print. An undeniable classic among classics. But this year, zebra print is the one gambolling across the catwalks and bounding into our wardrobes. As we’ve seen in Autumn/Winter 2020-21 fashion shows, designers including Versace and Christopher Kane, are splashing zebra print across maxi dresses, coats and blouses.

    Styling tips:

If you prefer to use small doses of prints, match them with pieces that have a plain colour like white, black or denim. Feeling bold? Try pairing your print with a vibrant colour. Zebra print mixes well with any colour. You can even combine zebra print with other patterns, including floral or animal. You’ll definitely turn heads.

  • Express Yourself with Art Prints
  • These are a more pictorial print style, inspired by the art world and tap into your sense of creativity and originality. So they’re great for flaunting your individuality. You’ll find prints that range from vibrant, to neutral, to pastel and everything in between. Marqués Almeida and Kenzo have been leading the way with art prints on their Autumn/Winter collections.

    Styling tips:

Art prints are delightfully easy to style and combine. Pair them with plain colours to give the print space to shine and command attention. It’s a great way of creating a strikingly original look from a seemingly basic one.

  • Play with Plaid Prints
  • Plaid is another of the classic prints that’s always in season. There tend to be variants of plaid – slightly preppy and slightly grungy. For this season, the slightly more bourgeois prints are looking like strong favourites, so keep a look out for tartan, glen or houndstooth. There are a few designers making plaid part of their 2021 looks, including Victoria Beckham Givenchy, Miu Miu and Versace. Keep an eye out for this one, it’s going to be big.

    Styling Tips:

Total looks are a prominent part of this trend, because it’s so eye-catching. So try out a two-piece, plaid outfit when you really want to make a statement. You can combine it with other types of plaid, a glen skirt with a tartan blouse for example. Ready to dare? Mix it with other prints, including animal or stripes. You won’t go unnoticed.

  • Let Your Style Bloom with Floral Prints
  • The floral print is bursting into life this season in an XXL size. Forget floral mini-prints and embrace a lighter, fresher happier design. Who said Winter was dark? There’s a long line of designers bringing the power of the flower to 2021, including Rodarte and Carolina Herrera.

    Styling tips:

Pair a floral dress with black ankle boots and a denim jacket. The blend of delicate femininity with a more robust touch always makes a good pairing. If you prefer a more classic look, a midi skirt with XXL flowers and a white shirt always works well.
