A Lace Dress: The King Of the Lace Fashion Tren

Back in 2015, many designers, such as Céline, Alexander McQueen or Saint Laurent championed the underwear as outerwear fashion trend, giving lace bralettes and camisoles a place in our wardrobes (and our hearts!) forever.

For this Spring-Summer 2021 season, we saw it repeatedly at Paris Fashion week from big names such as Balenciaga, Paco Rabanne o Giambattista Valli. Lace was present in all their collections in light colours, proving lace can be a fresh and flattering fabric. It is no surprise that the high street is following suit; a lace dress or top is indeed the new staple in any Spring wardrobe.

At Lookiero we love lace: feminine and romantic, it brings an element of sophistication to any outfit, and is easily worn in different ways and garments. A lace dress or bodysuit are easy to combine and can make you feel ready to face the World as easily as 1, 2, 3. Plus, because of its nature, lace is a perfect fabric for Spring and Summer, when the temperatures rise and we fancy lighter fabrics that can still be elegant and fashionable.

Is lace in fashion? Four ways to wear it:

  • Bralette

  • A lace bralette worn with your favourite paperbag trousers can turn an everyday look into something truly special! We encourage you to try this look, a fresh twist for a comfortable look that can be flattering for many body shapes.

  • Dress
  • Your summer wardrobe called, it’s missing a lace dress! Total look or just a detail, choose what best goes with your personality. For example, if you feel like head-to-toe lace is a bit OTT, try a long, flowy dress with lace elements around the neck. A bralette or camisole worn underneath can be a perfect way to update your favourite dress for this season’s evenings. Wear it with espadrilles and big earrings for maximum effect.

  • Bodysuit
  • A lace bodysuit is a truly versatile garment! Wear it according to your style, with a satin skirt if you want a truly romantic outfit, or with leather culottes to tone down the sweetness and toughen the delicate nature of the fabric.

  • Tops
  • A lace top is one of those basics that shouldn’t be missing from your wardrobe. You can put together an elegant and sophisticated outfit just by pairing your lace top with a pair of smart trousers and high-heeled sandals, or choose jeans and let just a spot of lace peep from under a cardigan. The combinations are truly endless!

Spring-Summer lace looks for any age

At Lookiero, we truly believe that style knows no boundaries (of size, shape, or age!), but if you are looking for some inspiration, we recommend…

    In your 30s

We think a strappy top with a lace back, worn with your favourite form-fitting jeans and a beaded clutch bag will look great. Choose a sorbet colour, such as mint green, for a nod to the pastel trend.

    In your 40s

An elegant flowy skirt in a tonal animal print will be the perfect statement piece for this outfit, and a lace bodysuit or camisole in a neutral hue will provide just the right amount of sophistication. Choose a blue-grey leather or pleather bag for the final touch.

    In your 50s

You’ll look a true Spring image in flared jeans and a pink blouse with lace shoulders. Add a flowy scarf in a pastel shade for a look that’s outstanding at any age.

    In your 60s

For a modern look that is comfortable, wear a white knit with lace details with some culotte trousers in a daring colour, such as a light shade of orange. Complete your Spring look with a denim jacket and crisp white trainers or heeled espadrilles.
