What to pack for your summer holidays?

Summer is here and with it comes the holidays’ season! Can you already feel the sand under your feet or the sun gently colouring your skin? Sure you’re looking forward to it so much that you can’t stop thinking about what you want to pack… without ever actually packing!

We are ready to pack the perfect suitcase for every kind of holiday: yes, because summer holidays don’t necessarily mean going to the beach. There are many ways to spend the warmest period of the year, and for every kind of holiday, you should pack a different kind of suitcase. Let’s see our Personal Shoppers’ tips to be holidays-ready!

Tips for packing your summer suitcase

First thing first, don’t underestimate the size of your luggage: you can fit everything you need even in the smallest ones.

Another important tip when packing your bag: take your time. The more you rush, the more likely you are to forget important things. Then, keep in mind where you’re going and what the weather will be like, taking a look at the weather forecast for your dates.

Finally, think about the kind of holiday and the occasions you’ll need your clothes for. If you are going to a place with very changeable weather you will probably need more clothes for layering. On the other hand, if you’re going to a place with guaranteed sunshine and warmth, you can take advantage of this to include more accessories, for example.

DO’s

Fold your clothes in little packages: use the Marie Kondo method to fold them. Trust us, it’s the perfect way for your suitcase to fit a lot more items; Prepare the looks before leaving: packing complete looks is the key to not having to think about outfits once you’re on holiday, and you just want to relax. Prepare them in advance, trying them completely, with the right shoes and accessories and pack all the items near each other, so you’ll find them easily; Pack for the kind of holiday you’re going to do: is it a relaxing/all day to the beach kind of holiday? Or is it a more adventurous one with excursions and trips? It’s important to be fully prepared for what you’re going to do;

DON’Ts

Don’t rush when packing: when you pack your suitcase at the last minute, you’ll surely forget something at home. Even if you don’t have much time, take it and do things calmly. You’re less likely to pack anything at all, just ‘in case’. Take your time to try all the looks, to plan the occasions and do the laundry if needed; Don’t take with you every item you own: when packing your suitcase, it’s important to do a selection. You can’t take your whole closet with you, so select carefully just what you’re going to use;

How to pack for a beach holiday

If your holiday will be a beach/seaside trip, you won’t need a lot of clothes: pack your swimsuits and what you need to cover your body in the road trip between the hotel and the beach. An easy dress, a playsuit or an oversized shirt will do the trick.

However, you’ll surely need something more elegant to go to dinner or for your night outs: pack something really versatile that you can use for more than once, styled differently.

And, of course, don’t forget your flip-flops and your beauty case that should hold all the products you’ll need to face the sun: the sunscreen is fundamental! Sunglasses and a hat are important, too.

What to pack for a city getaway

If you’re going on a city tour this summer, your suitcase needs to be well organised: first, because you’ll want to travel light, without carrying too many things from one place to another; second, because you’ll need to be prepared both to walk all day under the sun and to go out for dinner at a restaurant in the city centre.

We suggest you study all the places you’re going to visit and prepare in advance all the looks you’ll need: you’ll be ready for anything! Don’t forget your most comfortable shoes for walking all day and a hat, essential to avoid heat stroke.

The urban look we’ve prepared can withstand even the busiest schedule: museums, ice cream on the go and walks in the park. A pair of wide, flowing trousers to withstand high temperatures and a basic white top: this combo is perfect for walking around all day long, especially if you complete the look with trainers or flat sandals (but make sure they are super comfortable!). Your inseparable companion for this memorable day of sightseeing? Your backpack will be perfect for the occasion and very practical.

Your suitcase for a holiday in the countryside

Countryside or mountains, is your holiday more about nature? Your suitcase is above all practical, with off-road items for the day and a little cardigan or two for cooler evenings.

For example, if you’re planning on going on a hike, a walk in the countryside or into the forest, you’ll need something more sporty or hard-wearing. Don’t forget a jumper or fleece jacket if you’re going to be spending nights outdoors.

Of course, save room in your suitcase for a couple of looks with a romantic, feminine twist as a couple to match the countryside atmosphere perfectly. Yes to floral dresses, blouses with shorts and flat sandals. Pro-tip: take with you silk scarves to wrap around your head, an alternative to hats that will look trendy and girly.

Ideal countryside look

Here’s our suggestion: a feminine, practical and colourful combination. Make a long but light dress the protagonist, combined with a floral scarf that will be wrapped around your head. Complete the look with flat sandals and a bag big enough to carry your favourite book to read under a big tree in the countryside.

And you, do you already have everything you need for your next summer getaway? Check your checklist and write down those little details you’re missing so that your Personal Shopper can prepare that 10/10 suitcase.
