Wool washing frequency

Water is not best for wool. It’s advisable to wear it over another garment rather than directly on the skin to eliminate the need to wash it too frequently.

Preparation:

If your wool garment has zippers or buttons, close all of them before washing. Empty out pockets.

Washing:

  • Washing the wool by hand with lukewarm water is best.
  • Use neutral soaps
  • Never put your lambswool in a washing machine, even on a wool cycle programme.
  • – Place clothing between towels and press gently to remove excess water.
    – Always use cold water, never exceeding 30º to avoid shrinking the garment.

Tip! Do not use fabric softener when washing wool items.

    Drying and Ironing

    • Do not use the dryer as it will shrink and ruin the garment.
    • Never place it directly under the sun or near a radiator.
    • Never drain or twist the piece to remove excess water.
    • Place it on a flat surface under the shade to dry.
    • If you must iron, (although never advisable) use the lowest setting or a steamer. If using a regular iron, place a towel or cloth above the garment and press it very gently.

Tip! Do not hang wool garments as it will ruin its shape.

    Storage

    • Fold and place on a shelf after it’s totally dry.
