In colourimetry, we study women’s skin tones and group them into types – Summer, Autumn, Winter and Spring. In the final part of our series, we look at traits for Spring women. Springs have a soft and delicate look, their skin often appears like porcelain and is often sensitive, especially in the face. Spring types’ base tone tends to be golden, favouring warm bright tones.
Take Our Traits Mini Test: Are You a Spring?
There are a few skin types associated with Spring types. Ivory is very common (often with golden freckles), peach/pinkish peach, golden beige, golden brown/light golden brown are also seen among Spring types.
Focusing on the eyes, Springs will often have blue eyes with white flecks, light blue, steel blue, green with golden splashes, light green, watery green, blueish green and golden brown.
Spring’s natural hair colour (it’s all about your natural traits) usually falls into blonde/golden blonde, yellow/golden blonde, strawberry blonde (these women usually have freckles), redhead, brown, golden brown, grey/gold, white/cream.
Recognise If You’re a Spring
There are a few ways to check if you’re a Spring
- Do bright colors look great on you? Think of the range of acidic colours including pinks, greens, blues and yellows.
- Does your skin go pink easily? Although this doesn’t happen 100% of the time, it’s a good indicator.
- Do you find that very dark or very light colours dull your natural luminosity?
- Has your hair gone quite darker with age? As with your skin, this may not happen 100% of the time.
- Does glossy-effect make-up really work on you? Spring types will find that this rejuvenates their skin.
Mix your colour palette
The Spring colour palette mainly features orange/pinks from apricot to orange/red, passing through distinct coral tones. It also includes a range of blues, yellows like turquoise, water colour, light navy, without of course forgetting the soft and bright golden greens. Pastel yellow/green is one of the most representative colours from this palette.
Neutral Colours
Neutral colours from this season include ivory, sand, light beige, camel, golden brown, warm/light grey, blue and coral.

Colours outside our palette, give our skin the light touch it needs – try a foulard or a bright roll-neck jumper. Pair your grey blazer with an ivory roll-neck or dare to go for a dark cardigan and an apricot blouse.
This fabric’s touch of shine and light works great for Springs. Play with it and choose chiffon, gauze or velvet. Bring in a subtle softness, to reflect your personality.
Go for gold over silver, particularly in its more classic tones. Turquoise and coral stones in summer add a spectacular, wild touch to your soft beauty. They’ll also do a great job of bringing out your tan.
The best trick for us Spring women is a light, natural and luminous look. Choose a pre-base that’s luminous and a light beige base that’s fresh and moist, add a touch of peach blush to accentuate your cheeks. You can apply discrete eye shadow and define your eyebrows and eyelashes with transparent mascara. Keep applying a little lightener to your cheekbones and finish with a touch of gloss.
Embrace your Spring tones and shine this season.
